Lenny Solomon, Sweet Wednesday opens
Event on 2015-08-26 20:00:00
Award winning songwriter Lenny Solomon promises to present a fabulous evening of music. A seasoned singer, songwriter, and guitarist, Lenny Solomon's style has been compared to early Bob Dylan, Guy Clark, and Jerry Jeff Walker. Solomon began his career in the late 1960s. A fixture at the now defunct Idler Coffeehouse in Harvard Square, Cambridge, he regularly performed there on Friday nights for over eight years. The Idler was a training ground for songwriters such as Geoff Bartley, Paul Rishell, Spider John Koerner, and Ric Ocasek. During these years as a solo performer he shared bills with many touring performers including Chris Smither, Carolyn Hester, Bonnie Raitt, and Spider John. For many years music was in the foreground of his life.

From the 1980s through the mid-1990s, Solomon continued to write songs, but rarely performed in public. He chose rather to raise his family and work in environmental research at Harvard University. In 1997 Solomon got back into performing and formed a folk/country/blues band appropriately enough called Solomon. Performing his original material, Solomon has released one EP and four CDs.

The sailor and the dancer, the young girl stranded along Route 66 at dusk, the refugees who turn into ravens…whether haunting a campfire at twilight or lending their colors to the sunlight, Sweet Wednesday's songs spin tales that allow the listener to peek into the human soul in its most intimate and magical moments.

Singer/songwriters Dave Falk and Lisa Housman met in 2001, and immediately knew there was a songwriting, performing chemistry at work. Since then, the duo has released three albums to critical acclaim, toured extensively, and been featured on radio and television programs throughout the U.S. and abroad.

The pair alternate lead vocal duties, with sweet harmonies reminiscent of Gram Parsons and Emmy Lou Harris. Multi-instrumentalist Dave Falk lends his own unique style to the guitar, mandolin, harmonica, banjo, and fiddle, while Lisa Housman, in a voice often compared to Natalie Merchant and Joan Baez, sings of long-distance friendships, having a hard day working as a clerk in a bakery in New York City, lost love, and those crazy mermaids you might encounter after being out on the ocean for several days (among other topics).
